Iphone photos and Instagram
I cant remember when I start to love Instagram. The first thing it captured my attention is the photo editing function, it is so easy and fun to manipulate a photo with various filters and upload it instantly... It is fun to use it to share photos with a caption via Twitter, Facebook and some other social networks in just a few clicks. Are you an Instagram user? Do you like it? Well, here it goes, the original photos and the edited version.

Bishan Park
rural life?
right in the center of the city
will you think that this is a park if you have not seen the picture below?
At 62 hectares, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, with its ponds and bridges, colourful shrubs and lush greenery, is one of the largest and most popular parks in Singapore.
The Kallang River, as it wends through Bishan Park: once a charmless industrial canal,
now a charming public creek.

Plain Tiger Butterfly at Bishan Park
I Found a place in Bishan park with plentiful butterflies and dragon flies hovering around blooming buds and flowers ! ;The Plain Tiger Butterfly is much easier to photograph unlike the rest non stop flying from leaves to flowers.
All pictures in this post are taken with my cell phone at the abundant foliage gardens near the water lilies pond @ Bishan ! Pictures tell all. If you do have some posts about butterfly, do drop me a link in the common. Thanks.

Lovely Plants & Mushroom In Bishan Park
...a very nice view of the lotus pond from here, that will be great if the weather is not so hot...
I was again visiting Bishan Park yesterday morning...
...old banyan tree is not far from the lotus pond, lovely morning sunshine on the tree...
Thanks to the rainy season, I found lots of wild mushrooms growing here! Some are really beautiful and adorable.
There are bright red bracket fungi growing on a nearby log. Besides bracket fungi, there were other fungi growing on the same log too. I remember I saw them were happily growing here on my previous visit. I wonder if this area's perpetually moist, making it a good breeding ground for fungi.
This one like a flower...Poisonous or edible mushrooms?
Better not trying...

Long-tailed parakeet at Bishan Park
...I always call these green birds as parrot, till now only know it's name as "Long-tailed parakeet"
I saw them near the pond area at Bishan Park in the past few weeks while jogging. They like to stay on top high of those palm trees. More usually heard first well before being seen. They fly overhead, constantly screeching and calling. Calls made in flight, loud and discordant, also high-pitched and melodious, quavering, goose-like sounds and bursts of scolding. I should record their sound next time. I saw them flying, keeping low over the tree tops, twisting and turning as they move from one tree to another. I was trying to capture different images of the male and female bird...
... green hide among the green, it is very difficult to be found unless they make those sharp calling in the morning...
...beautiful long blue tail...
Long-tailed parakeet seen 'harvesting' palm oil fruit...

Woodpeckers in Bishan Park
I have photographed quiet a number of common birds in bishan park during the years...Yellow-vented bulbul, common tailorbird, some common sunbird, collared kingfisher, common kingfisher, stork-bill kingfisher, shirke, Little Heron, Grey Heron, Big Purple Heron, egret, waterhen, some unknown birds...
Today I add in some of my collection photos here, I captured beautiful woodpecker: the Common Flameback (Dinopium javanense), I saw them pecking on the tree in the early morning, there are 7-8 of them, flying around the trees near the water lily pond area.
...the female has yellowish orange wings and a black crest marked with white spots and streaks.
...the male bird has a red crest.
The adult Common Flameback is about 30cm long. It feeds on insects
Happy shooting, and if you encounter more birds in Bishan park or somewhere else in Singapore, do leave a message here. Thank you for dropping by the share my joys of birding in nature.
