Squirels and Rabbits at Arizona

I was very exciting to see squirrels in such a close distance at Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden...Most of the time I spotted the squirrels jumping high on the tress in Singapore, their moving is too fast to capture a clear shot. I couldn't resist taking many picture of those critters came close to my camera...
Its fur is much thicker, the tail is bushier than those Plantain Squirrels in Singapore.

If I am not wrong, it is Ground Squirrel, but the fur colour is much lighter than the one by the beach at 17 miles. Its winter fur is much thicker, the tail is bushier it look like someone just forgot his stuffed toy on the lawn
This is the most active Harris Antelope Squirrel in the, it almost jumped on to my shoe while we were having our breakfast in cafĂ© inside the garden.

I spotted a black-tailed jackrabbit rests near a cactus in the garden. It was the first jackrabbit I ever saw...But it stayed there still, not sure why.

The above photo show the Desert cottontail rabbit (Sylvilagus audubonii) in the far with the squirrel. Like all cottontail rabbits, the desert cottontail has a shorter rounded tail with white fur on the underside which ‘flashes’ as it runs away. It is also lighter colored than the jackrabbit; light grayish-brown with almost white fur on the belly.

...the other rabbit I saw when we stopped by the road side came back from Monument Valley.

My Road Trip Pacific Coast Highway LA to San Francisco: Elephant Seals

Elephant Seal Rookery at Piedras Blancas is just north of San Simeon, On Hwy 1 just about 4 miles North of  Hearst Castle. This location saw seals return in the early 1990s. Since then, the population has exploded to well over 1000 at times.

Seeing the elephant seals in their natural setting was a fantastic experience.

It was amazing! There were so many seals that they were piled on top of each other for the entire stretch of sand.

African Buffalos

The African Buffaloes, one of the "Big Five",  these large cow-like animals are also called Affalo or Cape Buffaloes. The large droopy ears and low curved horns, make this animal easy to recognize.

The African Buffaloes are mostly found in many parts of the African forests, the beautiful African woodlands.

These dangerous animals live close to water, near the swamps which are flooded with the dangerous Nile crocodiles and many of the dangerous venomous snakes living along the grasslands.

First Visit To Singapore River Safari

My first visit to Singapore River Safari, head straight to the Panda enclosure to beat the crowd.

Step into the Giant Panda Forest, the largest panda exhibit in Southeast Asia, first cute guy we saw is Red pandas, running on the tree branches...Red pandas are also known as lesser pandas, are said to be the original pandas. They were discovered in 1821 while their giant counterparts were only discovered about 50 years later. But I really cant think of that they are panda, compare to the Giant Panda from China, which I familiar with...They are also known as fire fox due to their foxy face and bright reddish coat. Ya, family of fox, I rather think they are...They have really gorgeous bushy tail, too bad I never captured any single picture!!! Visitors  were snapping pictures of it non stop, including me. :)

...two images above captured by iphone, yeah, not that clear

Next captured my eyes is Golden pheasant, very beautiful bird, but kept in the cage, below picture from River Safari web site...

...and finally see Giant Panda in Singapore,  (China’s gift to Singapore...), a bit funny feeling to see China Panda here...and this handsome guy, I forget his name, KaiKai or JiaJia?

Squirrel Monkey Forest is my second favourite.
These Squirrel Monkeys were suberb active and playful! When we were there, they seems to be playing ‘Catch’. Because they have the heaviest brain in proportion to body mass. This makes them one of the most highly intelligent primates.

...the most lovely Squirrel monkey...Squirrel Monkeys are small species about the size of a squirrel. We managed to get quite close to these inquisitive creatures, they were swing from trees to trees and were trying to snatch unsuspecting tourist’s bag ...
...a short video I just learned to play with it...Let me know if you like it.
