Happy Mooncake Festival

Happy mooncake festival or lantern festival to everyone who celebrate this traditional Chinese festival, wishing you enjoy happy moments with your family members. I would like to share with you some of the photos I took last week in the China Town, and some of my thoughts.

The Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節), also known as the Moon Festival or Zhongqiu Festival, it is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar. In the past many years, this date has been one of the few most important holidays in the Chinese calendar, a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese, a very important date for all the family members to stay together, sharing the food and sharing their thoughts, their experience in life as well ...But now, the young generation only know this is the month for eating moon cake,
the culture behind this imporatnt date has been slowly faded away or be forgotten.

Especially in Singapore, a lot of young people prefer to stay in front of computer, facebooking or playing game, they feel it is boring to chat with grand parents or even parents. They spend more time with friends and computer than with parents.
Yeah, though I am not in the group of "young generation" now, but I was yound before, I was busy working, busy dating, busy traveling, I left very little time for my parents, and when I wanted to spend  more happy time with them, my father was not in this world already...
On this special day, I miss him so much...Yeah, I am lucky my dear mother is still around, I always try my best to company her more often nowadays...I know life is uncertain, cherish what we have now, this is so called "Happiness".
If you happen to read this post, try to recall when was the previous time you did have a long chating wth your parents, if you can't recall it, do it now, call them or visit them...don't just bring a box of moon cake to your parent's house, having a dinner with them and go off once dinner finished, the worse thing is you are busy answering all the phone call, or checking your ipone during the dinner...:) :) Haha, some of us do that right?

Do you spend enough time with parents?
A funny question, I know...because most of the article will write:
Do you spend enough time with your children?

Again, Happy mooncake festival!

Yes, one doesn't truly realize the gift of others presence until they are gone. Both my parents and 5 of my brothers and sisters are gone.

I have to say, I don't spend all my time on the computer, etc tho.

Thanks for dropping by.

What an interesting festival so beautifully documented.
At some time in life the roles are reversed and it becomes important to spend time with ones parents before it is too late. A beautiful post.
