Long-tailed Shrike

This shrike has a long tail, thick eyeband extending above the eyes, grey cap and mantle, black wings and tails, white throat, rufous underparts. Shrikes are birds that are associated with piercing their prey to thorns on branches. Singapore has 3 species. Long-tailed Shrike is the only resident. Brown and Tiger Shrike are migrants. Brown and Long-tailed Shrike share the same habitat - grasslands. Tiger Shrike prefers forested areas.
