Singapore Quarry is one of two quarries in the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve that was once an active quarrying site. The Commission of Enquiry into Granite Resources and Nature Reserves recommended the closure of the Quarry in 1960 due to concerns of the danger of falling rocks. It was closed in the late 1980s when quarrying activities were moved offshore and allowed only on Pulau Ubin. The old quarry was recently converted to a nature park and wildlife reserve. It has become a lovely place for nature lovers and photographers. Rare bird species like the Little Grebe can now be found, along with monitor lizards and dragonflies.
...a quiet place to rest your mind
